It is the purpose of this study to make known the appropriateness of that a dentist could also be an expert of smoking cessation treatments. The oral organization is affected by smoking directly. Furthermore, dentists have lots of opportunities to contact with oral disease patients, so dentists could apprehend the harm of smoking very well. In the result of one survey, many people said a dentist was the most appropriate expert who persuades a smoker to stop smoking. Thus, dentists could be n expert of smoking cessation treatments like doctors and nurses. Because of the demands above, the pre-step of insurance service is started in March 2015. However, most dentists lack of experience as an expert of smoking cessation treatments relative to doctors and nurses. Therefore, it is needed to design the manual and standard of smoking cessation treatments through the Association of Korean Dentists. Eventually, we would describe a summary of past research related to smoking and dental problems logically and propose a basis that can act as a smoking consultant to dentists.
